  Former Pastor Jailed For A Second Time
  Stephen Berry Faces Lewd Act Charge
  A former Union County pastor has been arrested again and charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Stephen Berry, 38, of Jonesville, was arrested Monday morning and charged with lewd act on a child under the age of 16 by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. According to the warrant, Berry is accused of rubbing a 13-year-old girl’s upper thighs while transporting her from New Life Baptist Church to her home in the summer of 2008. Berry was first arrested on March 22, charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, after a person at Union County High School contacted investigators about an assault. In that incident, a girl, who was 15 at the time, told investigators that between May and November 2010, Berry had sex with her several times at various locations. She also told investigators that he molested her. The investigation is continuing. New Life Baptist Church, in Union, said that Berry resigned from his position as associate pastor on Feb. 2. The church said it had never received any complaints about Berry before these allegations. The church said it offers prayers and support for the people affected.
